1 Chronicles 11-15: Verse of the Day

David said to the Levites, "Consecrate yourselves ... that you may bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel ... because you did not carry it at first, the Lord our God made an outburst on us, for we did not seek Him according to the ordinance" (1 Chron 15:12-13).

Sometimes we fail to obey God and are mad when we suffer the consequences, but we like David must come to the understanding that we are to obey in the way God has asked us to. This parallel is all to prevalent today in the ways that men offer "worship" to God that God never asked for.

1 Chronicles 5-10: Verse of the Day

"So Saul died for his trespass which he committed against the Lord, because of the word of the Lord which he did not keep; and also because he asked counsel of a medium, making inquiry of it, and did not inquire of the Lord. Therefore He killed him and turned the kingdom to David the son of Jesse" (1 Chron 10:13-14).

Israel wanted a king like the other nations, and they got one

"Gedaliah swore to them... Fear not because of the serants of the Chaldeans: dwell in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you. But it came to pass that Ishmael... smote Gehaliah, so that he died" (2 Kings 25:24-25)

We just don't like God's message sometimes
