Jeremiah 31-35: Verse of the Day

"But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more" (Jer 31:33-34).

Jeremiah 26-30: Verse of the Day

"If so be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, that I may repent me of the evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings" (Jer 26:3).

Judah was all too deserving of annihilation, but God was willing to forgive them of all their sins and avert their punishment if they would but obey Him! The same offer is available to us today.

Jeremiah 21-25: Verse of the Day

"Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS" (Jer 23:5-6).

Jeremiah 16-20: Verse of the Day

"I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings" (Jer 17:10).

Jeremiah 11-15: Verse of the Day

"If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?" (Jer 12:5).

Our trials serve a purpose. The LORD is equipping us for His work especially when we suffer for His sake.

Jeremiah 6-10: Verse of the Day

You get two today

"Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, saith the LORD" (Jer 8:12).

"O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing." (Jer 10:23-24).

Jeremiah 1-5: Verse of the Day

"Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit. Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the LORD. For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water" (Jer 2:11,13).

Isaiah 61-66: Verse of the Day

"I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts; A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick" (Isa 65:2-3).

Isaiah 56-60: Verse of the Day

"the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people" (Isa 56:6-7).

Isaiah prophesied of my ability to be a partaker in God's covenant with His people.

Isaiah 51-55: Verse of the Day

"Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness." (Isa 55:1-2).

Isaiah 46-50: Verse of the Day

"For my name's sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off. Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another." (Isa 48:9-11).

I've earned nothing. God is my salvation for His Own Name's sake!

Isaiah 41-45: Verse of the Day

"Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands? Woe unto him that saith unto his father, What begettest thou? or to the woman, What hast thou brought forth?" (Isa 45:9-10).

Isaiah 36-40: Verse of the Day

"Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shields, nor cast a bank against it. By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD. For I will defend this city to save it for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake" (Isa 37:33-35).

Isaiah 31-35: Verse of the Day

"Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!" (Isa 31:1).

I have to be soooo careful not to be unreasonably hard on Israel. "How could they trust in other nations instead of God?" Do you ask yourself this too? How much money (trust) are you placing in a retirement fund of sorts? My point is not that planning retirement is sinful, but to get myself thinking about things that I place trust in without realizing it. Do you really think that Israel believed that allying with these other nations was contrary to the will of God. I'm certain that it got to a point where "political alliances" being in conflict with their "religion" didn't even cross their minds.

I invite comments on this post. Where are we unwittingly placing trust that might be in conflict with trust in God?

Isaiah 26-30: Verse of the Day

"Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste" (Isa 28:16) .

Isaiah 21-25: Verse of the Day

"Ye have seen also the breaches of the city of David, that they are many: and ye gathered together the waters of the lower pool. And ye have numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses have ye broken down to fortify the wall. Ye made also a ditch between the two walls for the water of the old pool: but ye have not looked unto the maker thereof, neither had respect unto him that fashioned it long ago." (Isa 22:9-11).

Again, it is this lie of self-sufficiency. Security and judgment is in God alone. Preparing for siege is a vain attempt if we have not considered our relationship with the Lord.
